Special events permits are only required in Area H. (See Bylaw No. 2596)

If you anticipate attendance greater than 200 people for your event (including performers, staff, etc.) a permit will be required.

Not all regulatory bylaws are in effect region-wide.

Please complete the Bylaw Enforcement Survey so the Bylaw Department can advocate for more support in your area. In addition, you can contact your area director.   

Complainant’s identity and any identifying information will not be disclosed to the alleged offender or any public member except as required by law. Likewise, specific details of an investigation or enforcement steps will not be disclosed to the complainant.

Contact information is required to clarify a complaint, obtain more information and file a progress report.

Areas A, B, C, D, G, and H do not currently have Dog Control.

The RDCK does not have any applicable bylaws pertaining to fireworks.

Fireworks are prohibited during the imposition of Category Two open fire prohibitions within the Southeast Fire Center.

Noise Bylaw is in effect in Electoral Areas A, B, C, E, F, G, H, I, J and K. Please complete an Online Complaint Form.

In areas not subject to Dog Control Bylaw regulations, the Noise Bylaw may help with barking dogs.

Bylaw Enforcement team prioritizes enforcement actions and situations that risk human health and safety, and complaints are addressed in a priority sequence. 

If the bylaw office substantiates the complaint and determines there is an offence, they will initiate contact with the owner and pursue avenues to gain compliance.

Anonymous complaints will not be accepted.

If the complaint escalates into court proceedings, the complainant(s) may be required to testify as witnesses, and their information could be disclosed.

The Bylaw Department has no jurisdiction to enforce septic issues.

E.g. depositing fill, unauthorized residences, non-farm use events and construction of buildings for non-farm use activity.

The RAPP program is a toll-free tip line and online reporting service that’s Available 24/7

*Environmental Health Officer- (Interior Health):

They regulate and monitor many public and private services, including drinking water, wastewater disposal, sewage and septic systems.

E.g. drinking water systems, on-site sewage systems with apparent failure, food service and processing, pools and hot tubs, personal service establishments

*Conservation

E.g. pollutants for streams and fish habitats, conflict with wildlife and disruption of riparian areas.
