Economic Development
How is economic development structured at the RDCK?
To achieve their social, environmental, and economic goals, the RDCK strives to empower local communities. Through its sub-regional economic development services, the RDCK provides funding for a variety of opportunities for economic and cultural development. Each service primarily raises funds through taxation in its associated service area.
Economic development commissions have been established by the RDCK Board to further promote economic and cultural opportunities, and receive core funding through the corresponding economic development service. For more information on each economic development commission, please visit the Commissions page.
Economic development partnerships
Each partnership is funded in part through the RDCK’s contributions through the applicable economic development service. Find out more about each of them below.
RDCK Electoral Areas A, B and C have partnered with the Town of Creston and Yakan Nukiy (Lower Kootenay Band) to address economic opportunities and challenges in a collaborative way in the Creston Valley-Kootenay Lake area.
