Welcome to Public Transit in the Regional District of Central Kootenay

Public transit in the Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) provides an essential connection between our diverse communities, natural landscapes, and local destinations. Whether you’re heading to work, school, or enjoying outdoor adventures, RDCK’s public transit services offer an affordable, reliable, and sustainable way to get around.

West Kootenay Transit

On July 2, 2013, West Kootenay transit systems were integrated into one overall system which includes 12 municipalities and 14 Rural Electoral Areas across the Regional Districts of Kootenay Boundary and Central Kootenay. West Kootenay Transit’s service area is approximately 26,000 square kilometers. The integration aligned routes, service, and fares over an area about the size of Belgium and coordinated transit services into a more user-friendly structure that better leverages the combined resources by reducing duplicate service and increasing service levels. We currently provide about 850,000 rides a year to 65,000 residents.

The Regional District of Central Kootenay portion West Kootenay Transit System includes:

the City of Castlegar

Village of Kaslo

City Nelson

Village of Nakusp

Village of New Denver

Village of Salmo

Village of Silverton

Village of Slocan

Unincorporated communities and designated places across Electoral Areas D, E, F, G, H, I, J and K.
