2026 General Local Election: Hiring Election Workers

The Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) is recruiting election workers for the 2026 general local election.

Election workers play an important role in ensuring residents can cast their ballots with confidence. If you’re interested in supporting your community while earning extra income, we’d love to hear from you.

Positions available

We’re recruiting for the following paid positions:

  • Election Official (EO): No previous election experience required ($351.12/voting day).
  • Presiding Election Official (PEO): Previous election experience required ($438.90/voting day).

Election Officials Training (2 hrs) $30

When you’ll work

Election workers are needed for:

  • Advanced Voting: Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026
  • Advanced Voting: Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026 NOTE: This date will be determined after the declaration of candidates on September 11, 2026.
  • General Voting Day: Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026

Election workers should be available from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the days they are assigned.

Where you’ll work

Voting Station locations are all within the RDCK and will be determined after the nomination period is over.
