April 27, 2026
The Nelson Salmo Great Northern Trail is closed between the Cottonwood Lake viewing platform and the Ivy Road Trailhead (Cottonwood to Hall Siding section), starting Tuesday, April 28.
This is an annual seasonal closure due to high bear activity in the area. This section of trail is an important wildlife corridor, and limiting access helps reduce human-bear interactions during peak activity periods.
The trail will be fully closed within this section as of Tuesday, April 28. Please respect all posted signage and trail closures.
