Marblehead Transfer Station – Public Notice

The Regional District of Central Kootenay sincerely apologizes to residents for the unexpected closure of the Marblehead Transfer Station on Wednesday, August 5, and for the delay in communicating the closure.

The closure resulted from an unforeseen combination of staffing shortages, operational challenges in coordinating hauling services over the statutory holiday, and a breakdown in communication that prevented advance notice from being provided to residents.  As a result, the site did not have capacity to receive mixed waste. We understand that many residents made the trip to the site only to find they could not dispose of their waste, and we regret the inconvenience and frustration this has caused.

We can confirm that the Marblehead Transfer Station will reopen with full capacity during its regular business hours on Saturday, August 8.

We value the trust our residents place in us and are committed to learning from this incident to help prevent similar disruptions in the future.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and again, please accept our sincere apologies for this inconvenience.
