Parks, Trails and Water Access Strategy Adopted
The RDCK Board has adopted the Regional Parks, Trails and Water Access Strategy, a long-term roadmap to guide the planning, management and stewardship of the RDCK’s regional parks, trails and water access system. Developed through research, site assessments, Indigenous outreach, stakeholder engagement and two rounds of public consultation, the Strategy aims to protect important natural areas, improve access to outdoor recreation, strengthen connections between communities and guide future investments.
The Strategy is supported by a 10-year Implementation Plan. Adoption does not approve every action, and implementation will occur over time, subject to funding, staff capacity and future Board decisions. To read the Strategy and view the What We Heard report, visit engage.rdck.ca.
Dangerous and Aggressive Dog Regulatory Bylaw Adopted for Areas A, B and C
The RDCK Board has adopted Dangerous and Aggressive Dog Regulatory Bylaw No. 3009, which regulates dangerous and aggressive dogs in Electoral Areas A, B and C. The adoption follows an Alternative Approval Process, a form of elector approval, for the related service establishment bylaw. The bylaw enables requirements to be placed upon owners of aggressive dogs and allows Dog Control Officers to impound aggressive or dangerous dogs. The service will be complaint-driven, with no ongoing patrols.
More information about the Aggressive Dog Control Service Establishment Alternative Approval Process is available at engage.rdck.ca/projects/abcdogs.
