Rosebery Highlands
System Description and Governance
The majority of the system was constructed in 2007, with a small extension constructed in 2009.
On July 1, 2012 this system was converted from a private utility to a Regional District owned and operated service.
Annual Drinking Water Information
Size and Number of Connections
The system currently services 9 active connections and has an additional 12 undeveloped serviced lots.
Location
The system is located north of the Village of New Denver and is a subdivision located above the unincorporated community of Rosebery. Rosebery Highlands is within RDCK Electoral Area H.
Source
The Rosebery Highlands system is supplied by a single well drilled in 2006 to a depth of 47.5 meters. A Ground Water Under Direct Influence of Surface Water (GUDI) assessment was completed that suggests the well is not under the influence of surface water. Water quality parameters meet Health Canada’s Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality.
Treatment
Chlorine disinfection is provided for residual water treatment.
Storage
The system includes a 275,720 litre concrete reservoir constructed in 2007.
Distribution System
The distribution system consists of 150mm diameter PVC mains. Dead-end mains in cul-de-sacs are 100mm diameter. 100mm diameter lines reduce the opportunity for stagnation of water in the mains. All dead-ends are equipped with stand pipes to allow flushing of the distribution lines.
Fire-Fighting
The water system might be capable of getting a fire protection rating but the water system has not been submitted to Fire Writers Survey for consideration as there is no nearby Regional District fire department.
Plans for Future Upgrades
There are no significant planned upgrades.
Universal Metering
Rosebery Highlands is a metered water system; however, metered rates are not currently planned. Future metered rates will be considered with continued development.
Asset Management Planning
An Asset Management Plan is complete and updated annually. The Asset Management Plan identifies required asset replacements over a 25 year and 100 year period and identifies annual contributions to water system reserves required to fund the replacements.
