Regional Parks & Trails

The parks systems consists of 23 Regional Parks and 3 Regional Trails. We manage over 525 hectares (1300 acres) of parkland for the public to enjoy.

Parks & Trails Status:

Unless noted here, all of our Regional Parks and Trails are open.



Cottonwood Lake Regional Park

July 6, 2022: Park upgrades are ongoing. The park remains open, however closures may occur in specific area. Please obey on-site signage.

Bonnington Regional Park

August 31, 2022:  At the request of the Bonnington Irrigation District the irrigation to the sports field has been turned off.  Park users should expect the field to look dry and unmaintained for the foreseeable future until water can again be used to irrigate.

Great Northern Trail

September 16, 2022:  Trail upgrades and maintenance activates will be occurring in the fall of 2022.  Trail users should make eye contact with machine operators if work is encountered.  Closures may be necessary at times between Busk and Hall siding.  

Morning Mountain Regional Park

September 27, 2022:  YRB will be continuing their maintenance on the access road on October 8th and 9th.  Park users should expect to walk/ride up and down from Granite road during working hours.

Currently our Regional Parks and Trails remain open. If you feel sick or are experiencing flu-like symptoms, stay home. Our park staff are evaluating the current COVID-19 situation daily and will continue to do so over the coming weeks. Additional signage may be posted in parks.

Park Amenity Donations

Contributions to the Regional District of Central Kootenay's (RDCK) Amenity Donation Program enhances the enjoyment of regional parks and trails. Celebrate friends, family and memorable events with an inscribed plaque on a donated bench or picnic table.
