Regional Parks & Trails

The parks systems consists of 23 Regional Parks and 3 Regional Trails. We manage over 525 hectares (1300 acres) of parkland for the public to enjoy.

Parks & Trails Status:

Unless noted here, all of our Regional Parks and Trails are open.



Sunshine Bay Regional Park

March 22, 2022: Partial closure of dock due to safety concerns.

The boat launch is still open and accessible.

Dock to be replaced in the summer of 2022.

Cottonwood Lake Regional Park

July 6, 2022: Park upgrades are ongoing. The park remains open, however closures may occur in specific area. Please obey on-site signage.

Great Northern Rail Trail

August 10, 2022: The section of trail from Ymir South to Wesco Road is closed until further notice for repairs to the Salmo River bank. it is anticipated this will be until early September.

Currently our Regional Parks and Trails remain open. If you feel sick or are experiencing flu-like symptoms, stay home. Our park staff are evaluating the current COVID-19 situation daily and will continue to do so over the coming weeks. Additional signage may be posted in parks.

Park Amenity Donations

Contributions to the Regional District of Central Kootenay's (RDCK) Amenity Donation Program enhances the enjoyment of regional parks and trails. Celebrate friends, family and memorable events with an inscribed plaque on a donated bench or picnic table.
