RDCK to Review Campbell Field Survey Results

Nelson, BC:  The Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) has received feedback on an exciting initiative to envision possible recreation facilities at Campbell Field. Located at the Playmor Junction, adjacent to Mount Sentinel Secondary School and the Slocan Valley Rail Trail, Campbell Field was gifted to the RDCK in 2016 by the South Slocan Sports Association. In the last quarter of 2020, feedback was accepted from both coded access and an open access surveys, as well as user group and student surveys. These results have now been amalgamated.

The results have been compiled in a document from consultant group - RC Strategies and can be found here.

“We would like to thank the public for participating in the Campbell Field survey process,” said Walter Popoff, RDCK Area H Director. “The feedback we received was invaluable and we look forward to seeing what recreation opportunities we will be able to provide at the Campbell Field location. This is a great gift that we have been given, and we appreciate the input from the community.”

The Campbell Field survey resulted in approximately 1200 responses from individuals, user groups and students where participants were able to provide feedback on their most desired recreation activities, both indoor and outdoor.

RDCK area directors, staff and school district representatives have reviewed the results and continue to discuss the next steps that will be taken in the assessment process. As planning continues for the development of Campbell Field, the public will be informed and consulted where appropriate.
