UPDATE - Evacuation Alert - Poplar Creek, Northwest of Lardeau

The Rapid Creek Fire, located about 30 kilometres northwest of Lardeau at the north end of Kootenay Lake continues to burn.
Residents in the area have been notified of an Evacuation Alert and are asked to be prepared in the event of a full evacuation. A door to door evacuation will be performed should the fire pose threat to lives or infrastructure.
The Southeast Fire Centre crews are continuing to monitor the fire and will be sending in heavy equipment for ground crews to create a fire break between the fire and the community. At this time there is no threat to residents and visitors in the area.
We will provide an update should the situation worsen.
