Fire Still Burning at Harrop Creek
July 28, 2017
BC Wildfire crews completed an aerial inspection at 6:00 am today. The fire does not appear to have grown overnight and remains at approximately 20 hectares in size.
At this point, BC Wildfire crews will not be fighting the fire due to safety issues for firefighters. The plan is to extinguish the fire once it moves into a safer location. BC Wildfire will continue to monitor the situation throughout the day.
At the present moment, although there is considerable amount of smoke visible in the area, there is no imminent threat to any structures or communities.
Please remember that we are currently in an extreme fire hazard, and open burning and campfires are prohibited. Stay prepared with your 72 hour kit in the case of an evacuation and please sign up for the Emergency Alert System at https://rdckemergency.connectrocket.com/.
Unless there are any changes to the situation, there will be no further updates.
