Village of Slocan - Jessica Lunn
Jessica has strong roots in Kootenay region, having grown up in the Slocan Valley. After graduating from Mt. Sentinel, Jessica spent nearly a decade balancing work, travel and post-secondary education. Her early work in the forestry/silviculture industry took her into some of the most remote regions of British Columbia. A healthy curiosity of our larger world inspired her to travel to Europe, to much of South America, Egypt, Jordan and Israel. In 2000, Jessica and her husband, Scott, chose to return to the Slocan Valley to raise a family in one of the world’s most beautiful and unique locations. She is now a proud mom to a 13 year old son and a 9 year old daughter.
Jessica is passionate about rural community and personal development. She holds a BA in Communications (SFU) and is working towards a certificate in public administration through the University of Victoria. Jessica has worked with the City of Surrey’s Economic Development Office and in international sales and marketing. Since moving back to the Kootenays, Jessica has delivered a number of federal and provincial employment programs - assisting hundreds of individuals to achieve their personal employment goals. She currently works with Kootenay Career Development Society coordinating WorkBC Skills Training services throughout the Central Kootenay region. Jessica has served two terms as Councillor for the Village of Slocan – and was elected as Mayor in November 2014.
