The purpose of this program is to provide financial assistance to local community groups and organizations for projects that provide social, economic, recreational, cultural and other benefits to communities in the regional district. Funds for this program are raised through the levying of taxes in participating Electoral Areas and Municipalities.
Discretionary grant funding is provided by RDCK Area Directors from Area A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K and Village of Slocan at the discretion of each Director on an ongoing intake dependent upon balance of funding.
Applicants must first discuss project proposals with Area Directors prior to applying for a Discretionary Grant to ensure your local Director is in support of the project.
Please review the New RDCK Board approved Recipient Obligations and Updated RDCK Discretionary Grants Policy for requirements regarding the disbursement of Discretionary Grants before submitting your application. By signing the Discretionary Grant application, you are agreeing to the terms of the Recipient Obligations.
Applications are available at the Regional District of Central Kootenay office in Nelson, from your Director, or by using the following links:
**Please note the fillable application must be saved prior to sending or the contents will be lost.
Please forward the complete application to your Area Director. Contact information for all RDCK Electoral Area Directors is available here.
Complete applications, signed by Area Directors, which are received by the Grants Coordinator on the Monday of the week prior to the scheduled RDCK Board meeting, will be included on that board Agenda. Incomplete or late applications will be returned for completeness and/or will be considered for a future Board date.

Within one year of grant award, if awarded $1,000.00 or over, recipients of Discretionary grant funding must complete and submit a final financial report that details how the funds were expended. Loss of eligibility for future Discretionary grants may result from failure to submit required reports. You can find the Final report here.
