Become a RDCK Water Service
The RDCK is now accepting expression of interest submissions to become a RDCK water service. The objective of the acquisition plan and policy is to offer long term solutions to small water systems in the region. Many of these water systems face a number of challenges, including water quality issues, aging infrastructure, and inadequate cost recovery. Any water and wastewater system located within the boundaries of the RDCK can submit an Expression of Interest to become a RDCK service.

RDCK Public Web Map
The RDCK Geospatial Service provides Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and mapping solutions for the Regional District of Central Kootenay and our member municipalities.
The GIS Team supports development planning, asset management, operations, emergency management and other regional spatial needs, ensuring data-driven-decision-making through data analytics and innovative GIS solutions.

Short-Term Rental Registration and Compliance in the RDCK
In most zoned areas of the RDCK’s electoral areas, Short-Term Rentals (STRs) are not permitted. Property owners should review zoning regulations to determine whether STRs are allowed on their property.
The RDCK does not currently have a business licensing system and does not issue business licenses. As a result, there are no business licensing requirements for Short-Term Rentals in the RDCK.
STR operators must register their rentals with the Province of British Columbia and comply with all applicable RDCK regulations including zoning regulations, Official Community Plans, and Land Use Bylaws. Provincial registration and data-sharing requirements remain in effect and are enforced by the Province.
