RE: Michaud Creek Wildfire (N51765)

The Michaud Creek Wildfire, located 21 kilometres south of Edgewood, remains active and is currently listed as a fire of note by the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS). Driven by wind and an abundance of dry fuels, the wildfire is moving north on the west side of the Lower Arrow Lake. The fire is estimated to be 2,500 hectares. An evacuation ORDER from the Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) remains in place for properties in the affected area from Bowman Creek along the west shore of Lower Arrow Lake up to Johnston Creek.

An evacuation ALERT from the RDCK also remains in place for 358 properties in the area from Johnston Creek, continuing north to Highway 6, including the communities of Edgewood, Needles and Whatshan Lake.

RE: Octopus Creek Wildfire (N51800)

The Octopus Creek Wildfire, located approximately 11 kilometres south of Fauquier, remains active and is currently listed as a fire of note by the BCWS. This wildfire is burning in steep and inoperable terrain and is now being driven by wind and dry fuels. The fire is estimated at 1,172 hectares. BCWS continues to monitor and assess control options. An evacuation ORDER from the RDCK has been issued for 5 properties south of Taite Creek, including the Taite Creek recreation site.

An evacuation alert from the RDCK remains in place for the communities of Applegrove and Fauquier on the east shore of Lower Arrow Lake in Electoral Area K.

RE: Akokli Creek Wildfire (N71686)

The Akokli Creek Wildfire, located approximately 6 kilometres east of Boswell, remains active and is currently listed as a fire of note by BCWS. The fire is currently burning in the Akokli drainage and is not currently threatening any structures. This fire is highly visible from Boswell, Creston, and surrounding areas and is estimated to be 356 hectares. An evacuation alert from the RDCK remains in place for the communities of Boswell, Destiny Bay, and Sanca on the east shore of the south arm of Kootenay Lake in Electoral Area A.

RE: Cultus Creek Wildfire (N71245)

The Cultus Creek Wildfire is estimated to be 611 hectares in size and is currently listed as out of control by the BCWS. An evacuation alert from the RDCK remains in place for the areas from south of Next Creek to north of Midge Creek, located in Electoral Area A on the west shore of the south arm of Kootenay Lake.
