RE: Merry Creek Wildfire (N51165)

The Merry Creek Wildfire, located 8 kilometres SW of Castlegar, remains active and is listed as out of control by BC Wildfire Service (BCWS). An evacuation order from the Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) remains in place for 31 properties in Electoral Area J. Visit www.rdck.ca/eocinfo  for the complete details.

According to the BCWS, the size of the fire is estimated at 15 hectares, but there was no growth overnight. Additional structure protection resources have arrived this morning and work by structure protection crews is ongoing. No structure loss has occurred at this time.
