Operational Fuel Treatment Work Starting on the Burlington Trail South of Nelson, Boswell, Bonnington and Riondel

Four areas in the Regional District Central Kootenay will benefit from operational fuel treatment work starting October 2nd in an effort to protect adjacent communities from potential wildfires.
The Regional District of Central Kootenay will treat 8.3 hectares along the Burlington Trail South of Nelson, 11.7 hectares East of Boswell, 3.2 hectares in Bonnington Regional Park and 22.9 hectares South of Riondel.
Further operational treatment work will start later this fall and early spring in Lardeau, Argenta, Harrop, Lister, Kingsgate, Fauquier, Burton and Burlington Trail North of Nelson.
Funding for these projects was made available through grants from the Forest Enhancement Society of BC, the Strategic Wildfire Prevention Initiative, Columbia Basin Trust and local government contribution.
Please note that the Burlington Trail South of Nelson may see intermittent closures Monday to Friday in October and November. See map for further detail.
