Harrop Creek Fire Upgrade to Fire of Note
July 30, 2017
BC Wildfire has upgraded the fire burning in the remote area of Harrop to a Fire of Note. The fire is approximately 80 hectares and does not pose any threat to communities or infrastructure at this time.
The Southeast Fire Centre crews are monitoring the fire several times daily and are developing control strategies as the fire progresses. At this time they are not requiring air tanker or helicopter support.
The fire continues to produce large amounts of smoke and will be highly visible in and around the West Arm of Kootenay Lake. People with respiratory issues may wish to contact their health professionals.
Unless there are any changes to the situation or communities or infrastructure are threatened, there will be no further updates.
