Disaster Financial Assistance: Extension
April 12, 2017
Home damaged by slide or flood?
Disaster Financial Assistance period extended
Residents in the Regional District of Central Kootenay whose homes or contents incurred damage from floods or slides between March 5—April 10, 2017 may be eligible for Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA).
The Province has extended the eligibility period and the application deadline.
Emergency Management BC has authorized funding for those claimants who qualify and who are unable to obtain insurance to cover their losses. Applicants should first check with their insurance agent to determine if their current insurance policy provides coverage for the resulting damage. As part of the DFA qualification process, the applicant’s insurer will be asked to provide a letter indicating that the applicant could not have purchased insurance to cover these disaster-related losses.
For more information on the assistance, including the application form, please visit http://www.gov.bc.ca/disasterfinancialassistance
Please note that the deadline to submit applications is July 9, 2017.
