Evac Alert: Wildfire south of Silverton

UPDATE: July 13, 11:55 a.m.
The Mt. Aylwin fire is estimated to be eight hectares. The fire did not grow significantly overnight. Crews constructed a helipad to gain better access to the blaze. Twenty firefighters are being supported by two helicopters. The fire is approximately 10% contained, with the containment on the flank along the bottom of the mountain.
The evacuation alert is still in place for residents living in the affected area.
UPDATE: July 13, 10:20 a.m.
The South East Fire Centre reports that this fire is now approximately 10% contained.
UPDATE: July 12, 12 p.m.
The South East Fire Centre reports that this fire is now approximately eight hectares in size. Twenty fire fighters are tackling the blaze, with support from two helicopters and multiple airtanker groups.
An evacuation alert is still in place for the 17 homes between Enterprise Creek and Red Mountain Road (fire numbers 8479 to 9155 along Highway 6).
