Balfour Boil Water Advisory RESCINDED

Balfour residents may now drink their water as the Boil Water Advisory has been RESCINDED.

On June 30th, the Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) had issued a BOIL WATER ADVISORY as a precautionary measure for users on the BALFOUR Water System. This was due to the loss of power to the Balfour Treatment plant after the severe weather event on Monday, June 29th. The RDCK bypassed the water treatment plant and was treating the water with chlorination only. This limited treatment may have diminished the water quality, triggering the precautionary Boil Water Advisory.

The water treatment plant’s power has been restored and the water in the reservoir has been fully treated.

We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause, and appreciate your cooperation and patience during this time.  For more information and frequently asked questions about water quality visit our website at www.rdck.ca.
